Drishti’s impact at the line level is apparent. Just ask this Tier 1 auto manufacturer, for example, who talks reported a 11% efficiency increases or saving $10,000 per defect with Drishti.
But what's the view from the VP level, where they are looking strategically across plants and even entire business units?
In a recent roundtable conversation Drishti convened with Dr. Jeffrey Liker, author of “The Toyota Way,” several senior manufacturing executives discussed the potential for Drishti's AI technology to complement their existing IIoT strategies.
One executive, a VP of Manufacturing Strategy at a $7B manufacturing conglomerate, had this to say:
"Drishti is the first time I've come across a methodology where I can do to assembly lines across the globe what I can do to CNC machining.
With CNC machines, I can connect to them, I can get OEE data, I can get dashboards at cell level, plant level, operating company level, corporate level. Connected, done, OEE gap improved.
But I've always had in my mind: How can I get this across assembly lines?
So when I came across Drishti, I thought, 'That's it. It's my OEE tool for the assembly lines.'
I see this tool for the first time as a way I can connect the business in manual assembly, whether it’s one person’s job or multiline. I see amazing opportunities for data science. I've been working a lot on heijunka, on how to plan lines that have got high complexity, different labels for every order. I see this tool as measuring what actually happens with all of those in the business, and telling me how to manage the backlog once I work out the data and the algorithms.
My own view, guys. My optimistic bias coming here, right? But from positivity, I see nothing but opportunity. And on scalability, the point for me is 'learn fail, scale fast,' and only scale to where I don't over-customize the solution to the point that it's only for a one bench or one factory.
I think the scale for us is where I can deploy it fast and maybe get the 70-80% solution instead of the perfect solution.
It takes a group of people to really manage all our biases. And I see a huge opportunity for data science to help our businesses. I've got nothing but excitement for this.
And the last point is, we will only improve when we see the gap, right? So it will enable visibility for me, in a way that I've never been able to put a dashboard up and see a reality every day, every minute of the day.
So I see nothing but opportunity with this technology. And I'm excited to partner with Drishti."
