Drishti provides technology that helps manufacturing assembly line associates do their jobs faster, make better decisions
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – September 9, 2020 – Drishti Technologies, Inc. (Drishti), whose AI-driven computer vision solution converts manual factory activities into data in order to uncover significant quality and productivity improvement opportunities, today announced that it has been identified as a Sample Vendor in the Gartner Hype Cycles for Frontline Worker Technologies, 2020 and Hype Cycle for Manufacturing Operations Strategy, 2020. Drishti was named in the Connected Factory Worker category in both reports, which is listed as “transformational.”
According to the Gartner report, “Connected factory workers are able to make faster and better decisions that enable and optimize a process or set of processes that they participate in.”
Drishti is hyper-focused on improving the manufacturing assembly process, and subscribes to the Toyota Production System principle of empowering frontline workers. For example, Drishti gives line associates better insights into in-station issues and points industrial engineers to lines that are drifting out of control. In all cases, these insights — delivered in near real time — enable the team to more quickly, efficiently and robustly solve issues.
“Drishti has developed technology to usher in what we’re calling ‘AI-powered production,’ the next era of manufacturing following craft, mass and lean,” said Prasad Akella, founder and CEO of Drishti. “AI-powered production takes the discipline of the Toyota Production System and augments it with insights from massive amounts of data to identify areas for productivity and quality improvements in the assembly process. And who is closer to the assembly process than the line associate, line supervisor and industrial engineer?”
It’s this proximity to the process that makes connected factory workers such an asset to manufacturing organizations, as they can recommend adjustments or improvements that might otherwise be missed. Drishti focuses on highlighting “brilliant outliers,” standout line associates with ideas for process changes that can become part of the standard work instructions, driving improvements across lines and plants.
In the midst of the coronavirus, connected factory worker technology is more critical to manufacturers than ever before as they deal with increased absenteeism, the need for remote line supervision and other unprecedented challenges.
According to the Gartner report, “The pandemic has only exacerbated concerns of knowledge and skills erosion that have ebbed and flowed for the last 15 years. Also, the demand for factory skills and capabilities far outweighs supply.”
